Are you interested in becoming a Freemason at Celestial Lodge?
Here’s How To Become A Freemason
In order to become a Freemason, you must first meet these requirements:
- Be a man
- Be a person with a sound reputation, and be well-recommended by your peers
- In most freemasonry jurisdictions, you must believe in a Supreme Being, regardless of your religion
- Be over the age of 18 years of age
The process of joining the Lodge at Celestial Lodge, in Westwood, MA is formal and traditional.
Next, we will contact you and you will be asked to come and sit down to speak with a handful of senior officers of the lodge where you will be given the opportunity to ask us any questions you might have about Freemasonry.
After this initial encounter you will be notified and if it feels like a good fit, will be given an application to fill out.
Next, you will need to fill out and return the application (with references) along with an initiation fee of $175.00 in the form of a check made payable to Celestial Lodge.
Once your application is received it will read at the next regular meeting. This gives the members a chance to hear of your interest and that you have applied.
After your application is read at a meeting, the Worshipful Master will appoint a committee of three members of the lodge to call your references and set up a time to meet with you and your spouse, preferably at your home. This gives another opportunity for the lodge members to ask you additional questions and provides you and your spouse another opportunity to ask questions as well.
At the next regular meeting, the committee report will be announced, and if favorable, you will be balloted upon. The ballot must be completely unanimous and all members at that lodge meeting must vote. If the vote is favorable you will be notified by the Secretary or Worshipful Master of the Lodge and be told when and where to show up to begin your initiation.
Your initiation consists of three degrees conducted over the course of three lodge meetings. After completing a degree, you must attend an informative instructional session conducted on a separate night. Plan on the whole process taking up, at least, six evenings over the course of three months.
